IOC President - Elect to Attend OCA's 45th General Assembly

The Asian Olympic Council (OCA) has announced that the newly - elected President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who emerged victorious in a highly competitive election in March this year, will travel to Kuwait, a Middle Eastern country, to attend the 45th General Assembly of the OCA next month.

 

Husain Al Musallam, the Secretary - General of the OCA, announced during an online meeting of the OCA Executive Committee that Kirsty Coventry will accompany the current IOC President, Thomas Bach, to the General Assembly scheduled for May 11th - 12th. He stated, "The fact that the newly - elected IOC President's first overseas visit after her election is to Asia is a great honor and a significant moment for the OCA." Coventry will stay in Kuwait for three days. During her stay, she plans to meet with the presidents of all National Olympic Committees, interact with athletes, and fully express her support for Asia.

 

This visit by the IOC President - elect is expected to further strengthen the relationship between the IOC and the OCA, as well as promote the development of Asian sports. The 45th General Assembly of the OCA is also an important platform for discussing the future development of Asian sports, and Coventry's attendance is likely to bring new ideas and impetus to the development of Asian Olympic sports.
