Leipzig’s public transport operator stated technicians are working round the clock to remove melted residues stuck on tram tracks and vehicles. More than 50 trams have finished cleaning, while around 300 kilometres of tracks and another 60 damaged trams remain to be cleared.

Long-Term Infrastructure Overhaul Needed for Heat Resistance
 
Germany’s federal motorway authority notes extreme heat events are growing more frequent. To boost roads’ heat tolerance long-term, authorities will adopt heat-resistant construction materials and thicker pavement layers in future upgrades. Around 13,300 kilometres of German motorways still require renovation, a massive project that will take decades to complete.
